CHAIRMANS REPORT FOR THE YEAR OCTOBER 2015

It has been a very busy year for the Association and I would like to reflect on some of our achievements, we remain active on many fronts from the protection of over development to our continued Conservation projects. Dr Michael Houghton has examined and advised on many Planning Proposals from Cliff Cottages to Pegwell Road and I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Michael as a valuable resource of information and a long standing friend of the Pegwell & District Association. We continue to Monitor planning applications providing considered detailed responses. As well as Planning we have been very active in raising the profile of the Association with a new Twitter account keeping you informed with the latest news in the area. The Garden Party raised a fantastic £567.64 and I wish to thank Sandra Gerlack for all her help and support not only for the Garden Party but also arranging all the Coffee Mornings which also raised substantial £492.48 for the Charity. In August The Pegwell & District Association were selected for Community Matters at Waitrose and raised £307.00 I would like to thank all the Waitrose Customers for their support.Another of our Projects this year will be installing over 30 nesting boxes in Courtstairs Park from Bat Boxes, Woodpecker, Kestrel, Robin and Blue Tit Nesting Boxes. The Committee have met on 9 occasions .A very big thank you to all our Committee Members I greatly value all your support .I would remind members that as an environmental & conservation society our aim is to protect Pegwell Bay from unnecessary and undesirable development. This remains our aim in a climate where green space is constantly under threat. Pegwell Bay with its status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special areas of Conservation, RAMSAR and Special Protection Areas is a very important and a special area we all must protect.I would like also to thank those unsung heroes who go above and beyond, all the individuals who have all worked tirelessly for the cause and for their continued support at various events, offering facilities for coffee mornings, delivering news letters and much more. They are too numerous to mention individually, but each knows how greatly I value their help.

Thank you
